Alternate art

This is how Escaped Null appeared in its final version:

And this is how it might have appeared. I was thinking a misty forest color scheme; light blue and black, with the null emitting a ghostly vapor from its mouth. You can click the image for a slightly better look ...

From the Vault: Relics

From the Vault is a popular collector's item for Magic players; reprints of old, popular cards that may or may not still be legal in play. All are printed on special foil backgrounds, and some of these cards come with new art. This year, the set is called From the Vault: Relics.

... and for reference, the original card:

The original art (posted soon, promise!) for Zuran Orb is available for sale ... just shoot me an email.

Monster Maquette

Does this pretty face look familiar?

No? How about from this angle?

It's my Sculpey maquette used for the new Mind Control.

Moving Day

I just moved to Boston! No A/C, but the breeze is nice and it has pretty good light throughout the day. I may need to set up some lights, but otherwise pretty nice. For the next week I'll be organizing my equipment and getting all my software installed on my new laptop. Then it's on to my next job for Wizards.

The Great Outdoors

Part of the reason I haven't posted in a while is because I took a vacation, hiking around Bryce Canyon in Utah. Maybe another cowboy painting on the horizon? I'll have to see how good my photo reference is ...

I feel the power ...

New cards! One "Uncommon" and one "Rare."

Oil sketch

Going on vacation for a week. I really need a vacation. Here's an oil sketch that I did in preparation for this piece. It served to loosen me up and eliminate bad color choices.
